Which One?

Do you remember when I told you I was painting Kenna Foster's beautiful photo "Retired in Paradise"?
Well, here it is. I think I like the landscape version without the chairs.
Which do you like better?

I like both versions, Laura. I think the addition of the chairs lends itself to the feeling of people sitting and watching the waves in a relaxed way...so maybe leaning a bit towards the one with chairs. But it's your painting so you have to choose! :)

Hm it's diffucult to define. My opiniion is that the vivid colors next and under the chairs make the landscape even more dramatic and impressing but the other without chairs is enough nice as a composition :)

I love the one with the chairs! It just seems to invite me right in..., and I do have a thing for chairs of any kind overlooking the water!

It's very difficult to choose. If I look at it from the notion of recreating the photo, then I would pick the one with the chairs. otherwise, the landscape. I like both perspectives.

I favor the landscape one...just closes in the scene a bit more.

You are so talented!

It's funny-- I feel like my photo would be lacking without those chairs, but... when it comes to the paintings, I think I like the "no chair" version a bit better. Either way is wonderful-- lovely work Laura.

I like the one with the chairs. Gives a nice perspective to the rest of the painting. Maybe if the tree in the foreground was darker and the grass was greener? I love abstracts but I think the ground looks a bit muddy. IMHO. :)

I prefer the one with the chairs - they add to the whole atmosphere of the painting.

I like the one with the chairs. It creates more of a story to go along with the image. It had me imagine who has sat there. Lovely!
