Day 10 ~~ A Painting A Day

Seaside, limited edition print

11 by 15

This was a full sheet painting. I used the masking fluid on the main subject with this watercolor as well. These are so much fun to paint!!

I made the background by putting real shells on the paper, and pouring different color paints over the full sheet...

How beautiful and warm - makes me want to walk on the beach beside the crashing waves.

Wow, what a brilliant way to use masking fluid! Mind if I steal the shelly-background technique for an experiment?
(also: can you tell us what kind of masking fluid you use?)

Sounds like an intersting painting method.

Lovely! I spent the day on Thurs at a windy beach looking at shells, with children. We didn't find anything as large or wonderful as these shells. Beautiful treatment!

My son is at the beach this Easter morning and your painting made me think of him. Thank you!

I love the warm colors in this -- and the detailed work in the shells!
